Be kind to yourself and others this World Kindness Day 2021

This year, World Kindness Day falls on 13th November 2021.  To celebrate, here are our Top 10 Tips on ways you can show kindness to yourself and to your friends, family and community, spreading positivity and boosting your mental health and wellbeing.

Being kind to yourself:

  1. Step into nature – take some time to enjoy the outdoors with a walk, jog/exercise, picnic or lunch in your local park
  2. Take some time out of your busy day to enjoy a coffee/tea on the sofa or in the garden
  3. Reward yourself for the week’s achievements with a gift or a special meal
  4. Have a pamper evening – relax with a bubble bath, face mask, a drink and a great book
  5. Catch up with and laugh with your friends, family and co-workers
  6. Put on your favourite music and dance like no one is watching!
  7. Enjoy a meal out with friends or family
  8. Take some time out of your busy day to meditate/practice mindfulness
  9. Spend the evening relaxing on the sofa, watching your favourite films
  10. Have a coffee and cake break with a friend, family member, neighbour or co-worker

Being kind to others:

  1. Pay for a stranger’s coffee, meal or shopping
  2. Send a positive text or social media message to five people you know
  3. Call a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while
  4. Send a surprise gift, or get creative and make a gift for someone you care about
  5. Place fun items or positive notes around your local community for people to find. A great idea can be painting stones with different designs or messages and hiding them around your local area for children to find and collect. Post on your local social media groups to let people know!
  6. Place a small gift with a positive message at the door of multiple random neighbours in your local area
  7. Surprise your co-workers with some home-baked (or shop-bought!) treats
  8. Find your favourite local cause and get involved by volunteering, whether this be in person, or volunteering your online skills, for e.g., assisting a charity with creating a video or social media posts.
  9. Donate food or supplies to a local food bank or homeless shelter, or donate to a local charitable project in your community
  10. Find your favourite local cause and fundraise on your own or as a team with friends/family or co-workers to support it

Enjoy spreading kindness this World Kindness Day!
