Afghan Appeal

Afghan Appeal

An emergency working group has been set up with our local charity and statutory partners to support people arriving from Afghanistan and those that are now here. We have created this special appeal to help answer the immediate and longer term needs of people arriving from Afghanistan since the regime change and mass evacuation in August 2021. As reported in national and local news, families have had to uproot and leave their lives and livelihoods with urgency and have arrived with few possessions. The Government are providing both immediate housing and emergency accommodation with support from Councils while longer term solutions are found across the UK. Donations – If you would like to make a financial donation, to support a range of needs not covered by statutory funds and to aid our charity partners in their outreach work, please donate here. Subject to Greenham Trust’s application process and due diligence, including sign off by our Board, grants will be made to a range of organisations working to support refugees in West Berkshire and through a cross-reference approval process with West Berkshire Council. Thank you for your support. We will keep this page and our social media updated with how donations are being put to good use at this critical time.
