Tower House Horses
Tower House Horses is a social enterprise, equine assisted learning facility in the heart of the Hampshire. Focusing on horses’ unique ability to make people feel good about themselves, Tower House Horses uses horse-assisted learning to create positive change in individuals and empower them to lead happier more productive lives.
Self harm among teenage girls has been identified as a growing problem causing concern to GPs and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Self-harm is a sign that something is seriously wrong. It can manifest itself, for example, in over-dosing, hitting, cutting or burning oneself, and unfortunately is used by young women as a way of dealing with difficult feelings which build up inside.
Tower House Horses is fundraising through The Good Exchange for a pilot-study, using horse-assisted learning, to help teenage girls improve their self-esteem and stop self-harming.
