These 10 charitable organisations had the change to treble all monies (up to £5,000) that they raised on their fundraising project on The Good Exchange on Friday 11
th December 2020 when Greenham Trust awarded £2 of Double Matched Funding for every £1 donated.
The selected local causes held exciting fundraising activities on and around the 11
th December including:
- Berkshire Maestros saw students and staff of Maestros undertaking an epic 11-hour non-stop music and entertainment broadcast on YouTube to support primary and secondary school children with music workshops that will further children’s emotional, social and personal development. - Bradfield Village Hall – as part of its fundraising towards a new village hall for the benefit of all the community, the team ‘Stepped into the future’ and walked 1,112 (11th December) times around the virtual foundations of the new hall and games area. Find our more here.
- Fair Close Centre – To raise money to cover income lost due to COVID-19 that would help the many over 65s who live alone and are becoming increasingly isolated, supporters could guess the weight of Baby Buttons, a tiny chestnut welsh mountain foal hand reared after her mother died. Johnny Reed (aged 68) shaved off his moustache (aged 40) and his goatee beard after raising £500. Find our more here.
- Greenham Control Tower – The team at Greenham Control Tower sold books, served takeaway teas and coffees and shook buckets to help raise funds to allow Greenham Control Tower continue to help visitors celebrate the rich history of the area. Find our more here.
- Pamber Heath Memorial Hall –Pamber Heath Memorial Hall held a cake sale and ran a Christmas raffle. Find our more here.
- Recovery in Mind held a series of online quizzes to support the mental health recovery of adults living in West Berkshire aged 18 and over who have a wide variety of mental health challenges. Find our more here.
- Sebastian’s Action Trust –A fundraising day was held at the Bas Books shop in Newbury including the sale of handmade wreaths; a toy raffle; a collection bucket and distribution of leaflets on how to donate. Staff dressed up in festive attire to bring extra special cheer to the day to support families caring for seriously ill children. Find our more here.
- Swings & Smiles – Held a 24 hour bike-athon starting at Midnight on Thursday 10th through to Midnight alongside other fundraising activities such as a cake stall, to provide children with special needs and their families opportunities for support, friendship and play in an accessible environment. - Time To Talk West Berkshire – Curridge Primary School climbed Mount Everest and The Downs Year 7 are climbed Mount Kinabalu (ahead of their teacher climbing it for real next year), Park House and John O’Gaunt schools donated their Christmas jumper money to help fund the increased demand for free at the point of delivery counselling for young people aged 11-25. - Young People & Children First sold Christmas gifts, decorations and Christmas cakes via its website to help provide young people (16-25-year-old care leavers and homeless) with the support, housing and life opportunities they deserve. Find our more here.
