During the Q&A session at the end of our latest webinar (Introduction to Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp), some attendees asked for information about free websites or access to community sites where they could host information about their charitable organisation without having to create a website of their own. This blog highlights some pointers to tools and platforms that might be useful.

UK Fundraising – The Good Exchange adds new CRM & WhatsApp features

The Good Exchange has updated its online charitable giving solution to enable sharing of the information its single application form gathers from good causes seeking funding with the CRM systems used by funders. New functionality also includes integration with WhatsApp, enabling charities and community groups using The Good Exchange as well as visitors to their organisational and fundraising project pages to share links and personalised information with their contacts to publicise fundraising activities and drive more donations.

While charities have had 5 months’ notice of the closure of BT MyDonate (with last donations being accepted at midnight on Sunday 30th June 2019), the date seems to have come around remarkably swiftly. The announcement showed how challenging it is for profit-making organisations to fund, manage, develop and support a charitable giving/crowdfunding platform on an on-going basis, especially when times are tough and profits from the commercial side of the business are being challenged.
